Research collaboration


Research collaboration occurs when two or more organisations collaborate in researching and developing IP.

The collaboration involves trading in IP in that the collaboration will often involve either:

  • the assignment of IP from one collaborator to another, or
  • the licensing of IP from one collaborator to another, or
  • the granting of options to negotiate an assignment or licensing of IP, or
  • combinations of assignment, licensing, and options to negotiate different parcels of the IP arising from the collaboration.
