The Hong Kong SAR Government announced the way forward for the development of the patent system in Hong Kong, one of the key reforms is the introduction of an “original grant” patent (OGP) system (applicants no longer require pre- approval of the designated patent registries for obtaining a patent in Hong Kong) while retaining the current system. In the long run, the Government will develop a full-fledged regulatory regime on patent agency services as a complementary component of the OGP system. In view of this, the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Hong Kong Institute of Patent Attorneys jointly launch this training course to provide professional training in intellectual property law to participants who wish to join the patent agency industry. The course comprises of 4 modules, including International and Hong Kong patent law and practice, Hong Kong copyright law and practice, Hong Kong trademark law and practice, which will be delivered by experienced practicing solicitors and qualified patent attorneys.
