Seminar on Launch of the New Patent System and Patenting Strategies

A patent system seeks to protect inventions in order to encourage and promote technological innovation.  The Government is committed to reforming the local patent system in order to ensure that it would continue to meet present-day circumstances and also facilitate the development of Hong Kong into a regional innovation and technology hub.  After years of efforts in implementing the reform, the Government shall be launching the new patent system by the end of 2019In this seminar jointly organized by the Intellectual Property Department and the Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs of the Trade and Industry Department, an official speaker will highlight and explain the key features of the new patent system covering a new direct patent application route and the new examination procedures.  In addition, a solicitor with principal practice in the areas of intellectual property and technology, and an entrepreneur in innovation will also share their experience and insights in strategies relating to patent filing, management and commercialisation.
