Organised by the Department of Justice (DoJ) and supported by the Intellectual Property Department, the “Mediate First” Pledge Event 2021 Webinar will be held on 28 May. The full-day event includes 3 panel discussions covering the use of mediation in resolving disputes relating to private wealth matters, the benefits of using mediation and apologies in health care disputes, and practical considerations in resolving employees’ compensation claims with the aid of mediation. An award presentation ceremony of the Star Logo Award and new pledgees signing ceremony will follow the panel discussion.
The “Mediate First” Pledge was launched by DoJ, over 690 companies and organisations have made the Pledge by now. By making the Pledge, the Pledgee acknowledges its readiness to explore the use of mediation as a means of dispute resolution before resorting to other dispute resolution processes including court litigation. It is a confirmation and manifestation by the Pledgees of their commitment to use mediation.
