The 14th Five-Year Plan supports development of Hong Kong into a regional intellectual property trading centre

The "Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035" (the 14th Five-Year Plan) was adopted on 11 March 2021. Its Chapter 61 is dedicated to the Hong Kong and Macao SARs, in which support is given for developing Hong Kong into a regional intellectual property trading centre. This demonstrates the importance the Central Government has attached to the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property in Hong Kong. It has been one of the major policy initiatives of the Hong Kong SAR Government in recent years to develop Hong Kong into a regional intellectual property trading centre (www.ip.gov.hk). The Intellectual Property Department will forge ahead with various measures and enhance co-operation with the stakeholders of different sectors in this regard.
